Shield
The shield is in the colors of the Signal Corps. The star represents the State of Texas, where the battalion was organized and the winged foot alludes to the message service performed by the unit.
Crest
The Roman gladiator shield and olive branch signify the Battalion's campaign credit during World War II; the palm frond represents campaigns earned in Vietnam. The red ribbon symbolizes the Meritorious Unit Commendation awarded for service in Italy. The 62 rivets on the shield indicate the unit's numerical designation. The lightning bolts on the shield denote the Battalion's mission; in the circular form suggests the commitment to execute the duties assigned.
The coat of arms was approved on 3 July 1941. It was amended to correct the blazon on 7 February 1942. The insignia was rescinded/cancelled on 13 August 1976. It was reinstated and amended to add a crest on 25 March 2009.
